The Story Behind The Brand
Hi, I'm Mia!
Mia Joyce Co. wasn't my first try at running an online business. Before this, I'd worked in network marketing and affiliate marketing — pushing other people's brands, with zero control over the products, the quality, or the story behind any of it. It paid the bills for a while, but it never felt like mine.
Eventually I tried to fix that with a dropshipping beauty store. Closer — it was my shop — but I still couldn't speak to what was actually in the products I was selling. And that bothered me.
So I reached out to a friend who made candles and asked if she'd make me a few wax melts. One scent — Morning Mimosa — bright, citrusy, a little sparkling — completely won me over. I had to have it in everything. Whipped soap. Sugar scrub. Fragrance spray. A diffuser for my car. And just like that, the dropshipping idea fell away and Mia Joyce Co. became something I actually make.
I run this business from home in Central/Western Maine, in between homeschooling my kids. It's the thing I do for me — the creative outlet, the thing that's mine — and at the same time, it's a way to help other people find products that are clean, beautifully scented, and made with real care.
What "handcrafted" actually means here
Every product in this shop is hand-blended in small batches — by me, in Maine. No factory line. No mystery middleman. When you order something, you're getting something I personally made, poured, capped, and labeled.
That also means:
- Batches are limited. When something sells out, it sells out — and I'll be back making more.
- Shapes and details may vary slightly. A car diffuser might come as a square, diamond, or cylinder depending on what I have in stock. It's part of the small-batch reality.
- Scents are blended with intention. I don't add a fragrance just because I can — every scent in the lineup is one I love and use myself.
What goes into our products
I care a lot about what I'm putting on people's skin and into their homes. Across the lineup, you'll find:
- Gentle, plant-derived bases
- Plant-based, skin-safe formulas
- Clean fragrance oils
- Real ingredients I'd use on myself and my own family
What I don't use: phthalates, parabens, DPG, or sketchy fillers.
I also believe clean shouldn't mean unaffordable. I've worked hard to source ingredients that keep these products as clean as I can responsibly get them — without making prices that break either of us. You shouldn't have to choose between a product that smells good and one that's made with care.
Made in Central/Western Maine
Everything is made in small batches at home, in the part of Maine where the trees outnumber the people. The reason a batch of Whipped Bath Soap sells out for a week or two is because I'm the one making the next one — usually after the kids are in bed.
A note about small-batch
If you've shopped from big beauty brands, this might be a small adjustment:
- Sometimes a scent will be temporarily sold out while I make the next batch
- Sometimes I'll release seasonal scents that won't come back next year
- Sometimes the diffuser shape you get is a happy surprise based on what's available
I love that this is part of the experience. It means everything you receive is fresh, and it means we get to grow this brand together — one batch at a time.

If you've made it this far, thank you. Truly. Mia Joyce Co. exists because of customers who care about clean ingredients, beautifully blended scents, and supporting small businesses. You're the reason I get to keep doing this.
